10 Best Places to Spend Thanksgiving

You'll be grateful you don't have to cook, that's for sure.

By

While Thanksgiving is traditionally a time for multigenerational gatherings at home, it's also the perfect excuse for a getaway. It's a long weekend, after all. And who can resist the temptation to take a break from the work—an entire day spent cooking the turkey, baking the pies, not to mention the clean-up—and have someone else take care of it for a change? Traveling for Thanksgiving doesn't necessarily mean giving up all of its treasured traditions. You can still have the all-American feast, play flag football, and do the turkey trot, if you choose. Or, you can take the opportunity to kick off holiday season with an escape to a dreamy locale, be it an autumnal sojourn in Europe or a jaunt to the pristine beaches of the Maldives. Below, 10 of our favorite Thanksgiving weekend getaway ideas.
